Rockies look to get second game off Diamondbacks

The Arizona Diamondbacks struck hard and heavy against the Rockies last night in a 12-5 win over the Colorado Rockies last night.  The D-backs got 12 runs off 15 hits, snapping a four game losing streak.

“The guys did a great job, good at-bats,” D-backs manager Chip Hale said. “We got the ball up a little bit and we were able to get the ball up and we were able to do some damage early and then continue to do it during the game. That’s a good sign for me, because sometimes you score runs early and shut it down, but we just kept having good at-bats.”

The Rockies face the D-backs again tonight in the closer of the series before hooking up with them again back home in Colorado. Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today!

Rockies take Giants in Game 1

The Colorado Rockies hot start has continued as they defeated the defending World Series Champions on the road 2-0.  The Game began with RHP Eddie Butler who managed to last only 5 1/3 innings but was effective through four innings sending 10 runners back to the bench empty handed.

“He’s got the two-seamer. That’s his safety net,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “When the guys make contact, they’re usually hitting the top of the ball. He created some traffic for himself but he pitched through it.”

Arenado placed on the DL

With Carlos Gonzalez already on the shelf, the Rockies got some more bad news as Nolan Arenado was placed on the 15-day disabled list after breaking his left middle finger sliding into second base.

“I kind of feel like I’m letting these guys down a little bit,” Arenado said. “That hurts a little bit.”

But Manager Walt Weiss already knew that Gonzalez was being hard on himself so he got in contact with him.

“I kind of feel like I’m letting these guys down a little bit,” Arenado said. “That hurts a little bit.”

The Rockies are on the road and in the middle of a three game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.  Great seats and cheap tickets are still available!

Dexter Fowler finally making some noise

Everyone was excited when Dexter Fowler donned a Rockies uniform back in 2004 but it wasn’t until 2008 that Fowler recorded his first hit.  Fast forward three years and Fowler is finally turning the corner.

Against the Houston Astros this past weekend, Fowler went 7-9 with a homer, five runs scored, three RBI’s and a stolen base all the while lifting his batting average to .276.

“This is the player that we think he’s capable of being on a regular basis.” Rockies Manager  Jim Tracy

“I was ecstatic when I saw my name up there,” Fowler said. “You go through ruts and I’ve been through a couple in the box.”

The Colorado Rockies  resume their 3-game stand against the Houston Astros today and Thursday.
