Rockies shutout Giants

Bettis tosses first complete game for Rockies

Colorado Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis tossed the first two hit shutout for the team since June 2009, striking out seven batters (one short of his career high) with no walks via 103 pitches in a 6-0 win over the San Francisco Giants in his first complete career game.

“I think in the third or fourth is when I had a really good feel for rockies 3my curveball and changeup,” Bettis said when asked when he realized he was in a groove. “I was just trying to do everything I could to give us a win.”

Carlos Gonzalez blasted a grand slam in the 3rd against Matt Moore, the Rockies third in this home stand.  The rest of the scores also came in the third.

“The boys looked a little flat,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “We got to find a way to come out of this thing. We couldn’t generate anything. Their guy pitched great, I’ll give him that. But at the same time, we’ve been in this for a little while, and it’s time for us to wake up here.”

Rockies take Giants in Game 1

The Colorado Rockies hot start has continued as they defeated the defending World Series Champions on the road 2-0.  The Game began with RHP Eddie Butler who managed to last only 5 1/3 innings but was effective through four innings sending 10 runners back to the bench empty handed.

“He’s got the two-seamer. That’s his safety net,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “When the guys make contact, they’re usually hitting the top of the ball. He created some traffic for himself but he pitched through it.”

The Rockies are back to it tonight against the Giants with a 9PM start.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so get yours today!
