Colorado finish off Padres 2-1

Rockies begin series against Yankees

The Colorado Rockies took game two 5-3 Saturday night and followed that up with a 2-1 win to close out the series with two wins and a loss led by SP Tyler Anderson in his Major League debut.  Anderson went 6 1/3rd innings, striking out six and 1/3rd innings, striking out six and allowing only two runs.

“That was Tyler Anderson’s day,” Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. “To step up like that, talk about a tough assignment. Come in here and pitching like, that’s big-time stuff. He pounded in the zone, I don’t think he walked a guy, and the changeup was a difference-maker. The fastball-changeup combination mixed in with the cutter, he had all his weapons working. Great command. What a debut.”

There is little time to celebrate as the Rox welcome the New York Yankees to Colorado for a three game series with Nathan Eovaldi taking the mound for the Yankees and SP Jorge de la Rosa starting for the Rockies.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your Rockies!

Rockies begin three game stand against Padres

Jordon Lyles to start today

The Colorado Rockies’ season opener is today and kicks off against the San Diego Padres at 3:10.  Starting the game will be Jordan Lyles, who started only 10 times last season due to a toe injury.

Finally Rockies fans will be able to witness the newest MLB star, Trevor Story, who has blasted his way into the history books becoming the only rookie in the MLB Modern Era to homer in his first three games.  His team is not too far behind with a total of 10 homers in the last three games.  If Story gets even one home run in this series, he will be the fastest player to ever get there that fast.  Hopefully the home crowd will witness history!

“Opening day is special it always is,”  Colorado Rockies Manager Walt Weiss told 9 News on Thursday. “We’ve been in the desert a long time — a couple of months — so touching down in Denver was quite sweet.”

Rockies take Giants in Game 1

The Colorado Rockies hot start has continued as they defeated the defending World Series Champions on the road 2-0.  The Game began with RHP Eddie Butler who managed to last only 5 1/3 innings but was effective through four innings sending 10 runners back to the bench empty handed.

“He’s got the two-seamer. That’s his safety net,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “When the guys make contact, they’re usually hitting the top of the ball. He created some traffic for himself but he pitched through it.”

The Rockies are back to it tonight against the Giants with a 9PM start.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so get yours today!

Arenado placed on the DL

With Carlos Gonzalez already on the shelf, the Rockies got some more bad news as Nolan Arenado was placed on the 15-day disabled list after breaking his left middle finger sliding into second base.

“I kind of feel like I’m letting these guys down a little bit,” Arenado said. “That hurts a little bit.”

But Manager Walt Weiss already knew that Gonzalez was being hard on himself so he got in contact with him.

“I kind of feel like I’m letting these guys down a little bit,” Arenado said. “That hurts a little bit.”

The Rockies are on the road and in the middle of a three game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.  Great seats and cheap tickets are still available!
